Home/New Work/Acceptance

I received notice today that my print Moffet, Eastbound has been accepted into the Creative Capitol 2009 show, sponsored by the Colorado Council on the Arts and Denver International Airport. The show will be exhibited at DIA from February to May 2009, and then again at the Colorado State Capitol from June to August 2009.

Moffet, Eastbound is the largest print I have made to date. The image is 40″ high and 54″ wide, printed on Rives BFK paper. I pulled one state proof of this by hand, using a baren. The process took me 3 hours per color! I swore that I was never going to do that again, so when I went looking for a press, the one of the criteria was that it had to be big enough to handle this plate. My Takach 4484 Etching press handles this with a couple of inches to spare. In fact, this was the first print pulled on the press. It is an edition of 2.

    Wow Dean, congrats!
The other day I was walking down the street in Oaxaca, MX and throught someone´s window I saw a press. I asked if I could come in and look around, and have ended up there every day since. It´s great to be able to do some prints while traveling, but it makes me miss the old studio, the other ¨kids,¨and ¨Uncle Dean!¨
Merry Christmas, hope you have a beautiful white Christmas!
